Ward 15 Councillor Margaret McCarthy Update Meeting
on the proposed St Marys Cement Flamborough Quarry

Mark your calendars now for Tuesday September 19th at 7:00 pm for the Public Meeting at Balaclava Public School. It's our last chance for an update from the City about the St Marys Cement application before the November municipal elections.

Your attendance is important. We need to show St Marys that the Community remains opposed to this inappropriately proposed industrial operation. We need to reaffirm that our Community rejects this proposal to develop Canada's 8th largest quarry in the midst of our rural residential and agricultural neighbourhoods, an area known locally for its market garden produce and as an ecological gem.

Whether it's the impact on our wells and drinking water, or the hazards of encountering one truck every 30 seconds on our local roads, or any of the other significant issues that result from this proposal which has your attention, we need to stay engaged on this issue.

Our Ward 15 Councillor Margaret McCarthy is hosting the Public Meeting. She has extended an invitation to St Marys Cement and FORCE to participate. St Marys Cement declined the opportunity for an open dialogue. We will be there. Please make sure you are too.
