Chances are...

If you prefer the sound of birdsong to the screech of air brakes, or
If you prefer the rustle of a breeze to the rattle of moving trucks, or
If you prefer quiet conversation to idling diesel engines, then...

You will want to attend the Public Information Session hosted by the Regional Municipality of Halton about the Proposed Lowndes Holding Corp. Quarry in North-East Flamborough.

The consequences of hosting the 8th largest quarry in Canada in the midst of rural settlements are enormous. The truck traffic alone is disturbing. The proponent estimates peak volumes to be 1140 truck trips per day through our rural communities. That's one truck every 30 seconds on our back roads. And that means a caravan of trucks queuing at railway crossings, and at entrances to the 401. The impact - dust, noise, diesel exhaust, and incompatible road use - stack up against our community's well being.

There's more to be alarmed about of course, such as the safety of our water. We worry about the proposal to blast and dig up to 13 storeys below the established water table. Excavating into our communal aquifer, in combination with the pumping of up to 3.6 million gallons of water each day leaves us questioning whether our water supply will be safe and plentiful.

If you're at all concerned about the Lowndes Holdings Corp. proposal then...
