Mining an ecological gem will be an environmental disaster!
Flamborough and Halton are home to an ecological gem that is designated significant - provincially, regionally, and municipally - because of its biological diversity and ecological integrity. Yet, Lowndes Holdings Corp.. is proposing to fence in this jewel and scrape, dig, and blast it into something that resembles a moonscape.
We believe responsible decision-makers will not allow this devastation to happen when they fully understand the environmental and hydrogeologic issues. To that end, we have been working diligently with the City of Hamilton and the Ministry of Natural Resources. So far, they have been responsive. On Thursday April 6th, 2006, the City of Hamilton will host a meeting to provide an update on the application. Lowndes Holdings Corp.'s representatives and the chairperson of FORCE will also speak.
Join neighbours, friends, and fellow concerned citizens at this meeting. It's important for anyone who values natural heritage systems like this one which has features that contribute to healthy forests & wetlands for wildlife, and clean water for our families.
Together we will succeed!
