Make A Commitment

We need your Financial Commitment today.
Our Case is both Strong and Compelling. We can Win this Battle.

But, we need to work together in order to make that happen. Each of the technical reports we have submitted cost between $5,000 and $10,000 to prepare. None of us would have been able to fund that work by ourselves, however, together we can!

Over the past two years almost 400 of our neighbours have already made a financial commitment through FORCE to Stop the Quarry. Our average financial commitment remains close to our goal of $500 per household. Our opposition to this open pit mine will be a long-term fight and the annual cost associated with protecting our community will be significant. The funds raised will be used to maintain high quality legal representation and for the preparation of technical expert reports. See the Audited Financial Statements for spending details. If we want to Stop the Quarry, we must recognize that a financial commitment is simply an insurance policy that will serve to protect the quality and quantity of our water, the integrity of our wetlands and woodlots, the safety of our roads, and the value of our homes and properties.

Environmental Defence Canada (EDC) has reviewed our Community Case and found it worthy of support. They see the St Marys Cement (CBM) Group proposal as a threat to both groundwater and to Ontario's new Greenbelt. EDC will be working together with FORCE to assist the community with media relations, mobilization of the Ontario Greenbelt Alliance, and our legal case.

To make a tax deductible commitment, please make a cheque payable to Environmental Defence Canada and write FORCE on the memo line or online at https://secure.e2rm.com/registrant/donate.aspx?EventID=66203&LangPref=en-CA&Referrer=direct%2fnone. 90% of the contribution will be applied to case expenses such as lawyers and experts. The difference covers EDC's administrative time and expenses to process the contribution, including providing charitable tax receipts. Please forward the check to FORCE at the address shown below. You will receive a charitable tax receipt from EDC based on your full contribution by mail.

Alternatively, if you do not require a charitable tax receipt, please continue to feel free to make a cheque payable directly to FORCE. The community still needs to raise funds to pay for lawn signs, the website, and other day to day costs that are not eligible under EDC's case support.

Consider what we are fighting to protect; our homes, our farms, our businesses, and our families. All of these are worth much more than $500, after all that's just a coffee each day on the way to work.

To make a commitment, you can contact us through our Send Feedback page to have a volunteer visit your home or simply mail a cheque to:
