Update #3

Stand up for your rights!

On Thursday November 29th, 2007 St Marys Cement CBM is holding a second Public Information Centre Meeting regarding their ongoing Haul Route Study for the proposed Flamborough Quarry. The meeting will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Carlisle Golf and Country Club, a presentation is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Whether you come early or late, we suggest you try to attend the presentation at 7:00 p.m. While this is St Marys' meeting, we are encouraging everyone to come out and stand up for our rights as existing residents in the impacted communities.

You need to be there, remember last time!

We have done this before with great success, and we can do it once again. In April of 2006 the City of Hamilton held their first informational meeting regarding this quarry application. This was during the period when Lowndes Holdings Corp was the owner of the lands. That night we packed the room with engaged and well spoken residents. We listened to their outrageous story and then we told them how we felt. Less than two months later Lowndes Holding Corp had given up and sold out to St Marys Cement. Don't underestimate the impact we made as a community that night, government and agency officials still speak about it. Let's do it once again and send St Marys the clear message that we are still just as determined as ever to ensure that this proposed open pit mine never sees the light of day.
