Volunteer Opportunities

Friends of Rural Communities and the Environment (FORCE) formed the Special Events Committee in August of 2006 to help raise awareness, stimulate social participation and strengthen our overall opposition to St Marys Cement Group (CBM) proposed large-scale quarry application.

In November of 2006 the Special Events Committee organized our first gala, "Friends - A Vital FORCE in Our Community", which proved to be a great success. The SEC is now looking for a core group of dedicated volunteers to assist in building a solid foundation from which we can grow.

How much of my time is required?

Volunteers are required to meet regularly to ensure our events are a success.

The number of meetings will vary depending on the event but count on approximately eight meetings prior to the event with more time commitment leading up to the day of the event.

Do I need any special skills?

No, but strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to take initiative are an asset. Below is an example of just few of the skills we are looking for:

If you would like to make a commitment to share your ideas and time helping to organize special events then this may be the place for you.

The Special Events Committee will be holding an information session at the Mountsberg Community Hall on Thursday, February 1st at 7:00pm. You can also sign up by emailing your name and phone number to info@stopthequarry.ca.
